A recent study conducted in Australia found that the color of the coffee cup may change the taste of coffee!

The study investigated the effects of three different coffee cup colors-white, blue and clear glass-on taste differences. The researchers gave 18 participants the same coffee in similar-shaped but different-colored cups and asked them to rate the sweetness, aroma, bitterness, quality and acceptability of the coffee.

The study found that participants rated the coffee in the white cup as "stronger," the clear glass as lighter, the blue cup as "moderate," and that participants rated the coffee in the white cup as less sweet than the coffee in the blue cup or clear glass. The researchers believe that different cup colors produce different feelings for the same coffee because people associate specific colors with specific feelings. Brown may be associated with bitterness, but white cups may influence perceptions of coffee browning, which may affect perceptions of coffee strength and sweetness.
