Coffee, many people are heavily dependent on coffee, drinking too much coffee will lead to osteoporosis. China has the largest number of osteoporosis patients, the osteoporosis rate is 15.7%, and the total number of patients is more than 90 million. A website recently conducted a "World Osteoporosis Day Survey". The results show that 66.67% of the participants have the characteristics of high-risk groups of osteoporosis, and 96.55% of the respondents have bad eating habits that affect bone health. Among them, regular drinking coffee and strong tea are the most common eating habits that are harmful to bone health.

26.32% of the people who participated in the survey were at the age of 20 and 29, and 68.42% were at the age of 30 and 39, mostly young and middle-aged. Xu Hongzhang, director of the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology at the Hospital of Integrated traditional Chinese and Western Medicine of Southern Medical University, analyzed that the main characteristics of osteoporosis are decreased bone strength (including low bone mass and destruction of bone microstructure) and increased risk of fracture (that is, increased bone brittleness). Bone strength reflects two aspects of bone, namely bone mineral density and bone quality. When you find that you are prone to bone injury and fracture, or the characteristic manifestations of osteoporosis such as pain, hunchback and loss of height, bone mineral density should be detected in time to confirm whether you suffer from osteoporosis.

According to the survey, 78.95% of the respondents did not measure bone mineral density regularly. Xu Hongzhang suggested that many osteoporosis have no symptoms in the early stage, and bone mineral density measurement is the best basis for early diagnosis of osteoporosis. The highest bone mass a person can get in his or her life is usually between the ages of 30 and 35, after which the bone begins to lose. Therefore, osteoporosis high-risk groups over 35 years old need regular bone mineral density detection in order to achieve early detection, early prevention and early treatment.

Many urban white-collar workers have the habit of drinking coffee and strong tea, but in fact, drinking coffee or strong tea often increases the risk of osteoporosis. Xu Hongzhang said that coffee and strong tea contain caffeine, which will have a mild diuretic effect after excessive intake. An increase in urine volume will increase the excretion of urinary calcium and fecal calcium, leading to osteoporosis. In addition, carbonated drinks contain phosphoric acid, which will not only reduce the absorption of calcium, but also accelerate the loss of calcium. And most drinks contain more sugar, eating too much sugar will also affect the absorption of calcium. Therefore, in order to prevent osteoporosis, we should try our best to drink less drinks, strong tea, coffee and other drinks, and eat more fruits and vegetables, foods rich in vitamin D and calcium.
