Will pulling flowers make the coffee worse? I think you who love coffee must want to know.
When everyone goes to the cafe to order coffee, they all like to order a cup of coffee with flowers, which is both delicious and pleasing to the eye, but will it affect the taste of the coffee? I think you who love coffee must also want to know.
Have you ever considered the question: will the pleasing art of flower drawing affect the quality and taste of the coffee itself? In order to find out, I conducted a series of special studies and got my own answer.
At present, flower-pulling art is very popular in the boutique coffee industry. No one can resist the charm of flower drawing art. Nowadays, almost all coffee shops provide free flower-pulling service for customers when making milk-based coffee. Whether it's tulips, hearts or other patterns, pull-flower coffee always drives everyone crazy. Personally, I am not opposed to the art of flower drawing. It takes a lot of practice and a great deal of patience to make the perfect lace coffee. You can see from the figure whether the barista is attentive and whether the quality of the coffee is outstanding.
First of all, I would like to make it clear that my purpose in writing this article is not to criticize current trends, because I personally love the art of flower drawing. I just want to explore whether flower pulling really affects the taste and quality of coffee through experiments and analysis.
There are no more than three kinds of patterns in our most common pattern: contrast, symmetry and medium. No matter which pattern it is, it forces the coffee's original oil (Crema) to spread around and form a darker "ring" around the pattern. And what on earth is this "ring"? It could be pure coffee fat, dyed milk, or a mixture of fat and milk. It depends on the barista's production skills and the variety of coffee. What we can be sure of is that this "ring" is the strongest part of the whole cup of coffee, so the quality of the "ring" directly affects the taste of the coffee.
The taste of the first sip of coffee you drink is the most important because it will greatly affect your first impression and overall evaluation of the cup of coffee. I learned this principle from my teacher, and it is still the only rule I follow when tasting coffee. But here's the problem: if your first sip of coffee is extremely strong, you will take it for granted that it is strong; if your first sip of coffee is light and milky, you will speculate that this cup of coffee is mild and mild. Therefore, many people believe that the "ring" of Lahua coffee determines the quality and taste of the whole cup of coffee.
But after repeated experiments and studies, my thinking has changed.
Coffee grease is different from espresso. Coffee grease tastes terrible (really, you can try it). But milk can improve the taste and mellow thickness of grease. So my question is: does coffee fat with milk taste better than coffee fat without milk?
In the course of the experiment, I excluded the influence of visual factors on subjective evaluation and devoted all my energy to the taste of coffee. The method of the experiment is extremely simple and fun. All you need is three things: a coffee maker, an assistant and a blindfold.
The steps of the experiment:
1. Make two identical espresso espresso. You can make it with a double handle, or wash the filter bowl and make another cup after making one.
two。 Beat two bottles of milk of the same quality, or use a large milk tank and pour it into two small ones. Be sure to ensure that the quality of the two bottles of milk is the same, with a quantity of more than 100 milliliters.
3. Make two cups of caffeine. Cappuccino, latte, Flat White or Cortados is fine. Here I would like to thank my assistant Ben Morrow Ben Morrow!
4. Stir one of the cups of coffee with a spoon and mix the milk on the surface with the coffee on the bottom until the fat is uniform.
5. Take out the third cup and fill it with whisked milk.
6. Cover your eyes with a blindfold.
7. Put two cups of coffee at will, with milk in the middle. Ask your assistant to pick a cup of coffee at random for you to taste.
8. Taste and remember the taste and quality of foam and milk. Drink some milk after the first cup of coffee to reset the taste.
9. Taste another cup of coffee and then drink some milk.
Okay, now you need to answer the following questions:
Which cup of coffee do you have the best first impression?
Which cup of foam tastes the best?
Which cup has the best overall taste?
Which cup of coffee do you prefer?
The result may be unexpected!
We are visually affected when we judge the quality and taste of coffee. People will subjectively think that a cup of coffee that looks good tastes better. After excluding the visual factors, Lahua Coffee can be said to have no advantage at all.
The "ring" of La Hua coffee is undoubtedly the strongest, tastes more bitter and tastes more like coffee. The "ring" will indeed greatly affect your subsequent tasting process for the following two reasons: first, the coffee oil is all floating on the coffee surface, and the taste of other parts is obviously not as strong as the oil; second, after your taste buds are strongly impacted, their sensitivity will be greatly reduced. This will make all the coffee you drink dull and leave a bitter, insipid aftertaste in your mouth.
If you think this is good coffee, you must be a big fan of Lafe Coffee!
Another cup of fully stirred coffee tastes softer in the first sip. The strong flavor of the grease is diluted in the coffee and improves the taste of the whole cup of coffee. The taste of milk will also be more rich and rich. The aftertaste of this cup of coffee is also purer.
If you think the fully mixed coffee tastes better, then Lafayette may not be right for you!
Remember, the purpose of our experiment is not to distinguish between who is right and who is wrong, let alone to point out the disadvantages of Lafayette. Everyone has their own taste preferences. We hope that everyone can choose the caffeine correctly according to their preferences!
