Under normal circumstances, after the egg and sperm combine, they migrate from the fallopian tube to the uterine cavity, where they "settle down" and slowly develop into a fetus. In the process of "migration", a special kind of cell on the wall of fallopian tube plays an important role.

In the study of experimental mice, the researchers found that caffeine weakens the activity of these cells, making it difficult for the fallopian tubes to send fertilized eggs into the uterine cavity.

Sean Ward, a physiology professor who participated in the study, said the new findings may explain why it is more difficult for women who drink a lot of coffee to get pregnant, which may help some women who have difficulty conceiving and allow doctors to act more effectively.
