The anti-cancer effect of coffee is effective for both low-risk and high-risk groups.

Japanese consume a lot of coffee every year. In order to explore whether coffee can prevent cancer, researchers at Tohoku University in Japan analyzed the data of respondents' diets such as drinking coffee provided by the Japanese Journal of Psychosomatic Research. The data showed that of the 38000 people aged 40 to 64 who had no history of cancer, 157 developed oral, throat and esophageal cancer over the next 13 years. Those who drank one or more cups of coffee a day had a half lower risk of developing these cancers than those who did not drink coffee. The results are published in the American Journal of Epidemiology.
The researchers said they did not expect the anti-cancer effect of coffee, especially for people at high risk of cancer, such as smokers and alcohol drinkers, which is essentially different from their previous belief that coffee causes cancer. He believes that although quitting smoking and drinking is the most popular way to prevent these cancers, the anti-cancer effect of coffee is equally effective for both low-risk and high-risk groups, so it can not be ignored.
