South Korea becomes the largest exporter of Yunnan coffee
According to the Yunnan Coffee Association, South Korea imports an average of 2000 tons of coffee from Yunnan every year, making it the largest exporter of coffee from Yunnan. Yunnan Province has an area of more than 800,000 mu of coffee, with an annual output of more than 60,000 tons, accounting for 98 percent of the country's total. The products are sold in 31 countries and regions, including the United States, South Korea, Southeast Asia, and so on. South Korea has become the largest exporter of Yunnan coffee because of its market and tariff advantages. Yunnan coffee is affected by unique geographical environment and climatic factors, and the small-grain coffee produced is very popular in the market. In 2011, the export volume has exceeded 100 million US dollars, becoming another important export product of Yunnan Province after tobacco, vegetables and wild bacteria. At present, Yunnan has included the coffee industry as a key characteristic industry. It is estimated that by 2020, the planting area of coffee will reach 1.5 million mu, the annual output of coffee will reach 200000 tons, the total output value will be more than 34 billion yuan, and the foreign exchange earned from exports will be over 10 billion US dollars.
