Yesterday, the Yunnan coffee industry technological innovation strategic alliance led by the Tropical and Subtropical Economic crops Research Institute of the Provincial Academy of Agricultural Sciences was unveiled in Kunming.

According to statistics, by the end of last year, Yunnan Province had planted 824000 mu of coffee, with an output of nearly 60, 000 tons, accounting for 99.9 percent of the country's total, with a total output value of 1.5 billion yuan and foreign exchange earnings of more than 120 million US dollars. It has become a unique and advantageous agricultural product in China, and it is also the second largest export agricultural product in Yunnan Province. However, due to the lag of improved variety selection, pest research and deep processing technology, enterprises, universities and scientific research institutions engaged in coffee industry research and development are lack of effective communication, which restricts the sustainable development of coffee industry to a certain extent.
