According to the analysis of the global coffee production and marketing situation, by 2020, the coffee planting area of Yunnan Province is expected to reach more than 2.5 million mu, the annual output of coffee will be 200000 tons, the total output value will be more than 35 billion yuan, and the export will earn more than 300 million US dollars.

Coffee planting areas in the province are distributed in more than 40 counties (urban areas) in 10 cities. The main producing areas are Baoshan, Dehong, Pu'er and Lincang in southern and southwestern Yunnan. The acreage and output of the four cities account for more than 85% of the province. Coffee is also an important agricultural product for earning foreign exchange. In 2014, coffee exported 48429 tons, earning 145.91 million US dollars from exports, a slight increase over the previous year, second only to vegetables and tobacco, ranking third among export agricultural products. Coffee industry in the province has become a characteristic advantage industry to promote the development of agricultural and rural economy, increase farmers' income and prosperity and stability in the border areas of Yunnan Province.

Yunnan is not only one of the major coffee producing areas in Asia, but also an important node for the world coffee giants to lay out the Chinese and even Asian markets. Yunnan provincial party committee and provincial government have always attached importance to and supported the development of the coffee industry. Through years of support, the coffee industry has developed rapidly.
