The survey says the average North Korean resident drinks seven cups of coffee a year
According to South Korea's Central Daily on the 31st, the International Coffee Organization (ICO) disclosed in its report that North Korea consumes 50 grams of coffee beans per person per year, equivalent to seven cups of coffee.
Reported that North Korea from 2000 to 2012 imported an average of 19000 bags (60 kg each) of coffee beans. Between 1990 and 1999, North Korea imported less than 1000 bags of coffee, but it has increased significantly since the 2000s. In particular, in 2000, North Korea imported a total of 25000 bags of raw coffee beans, a substantial increase.
Analysts believe that the sharp increase in coffee demand in North Korea is due to the recent emergence of a variety of coffee shops in Pyongyang and other big cities.
