Coffee exports from Honduras grew by 55% in the first nine months of the year.

According to preliminary statistics of the industry, in the first nine months of this harvest, the total value of coffee exports from Honduras reached 1,099.9 million US dollars, an increase of 55 percent compared with 79.7 million US dollars in the same period last year.
According to a preliminary report released by the Honduran Coffee Association (Ihcafe), from October last year to June this year (the first nine months of the 2016-2017 harvest year), Hongguo's coffee exports totaled 7.7 million 612 bags (46 kg each), up 36 per cent from 5.66 million 4966 bags in the same period in 2015-2016.
Ihcafe pointed out that although there are still three months to go before the end of the current harvest year, total coffee exports from Honduras have exceeded last year's total exports of 6.7 million 4359 bags and a total of US $84210.
Asterio Reyes, director of Ihcafe, said Honduras's coffee exports this year were due to increased domestic production and rising international prices.
He also estimated that by the end of September this year (the end of the current harvest year), the total value of Honduran coffee exports will reach 1.3 billion US dollars.
