SCAA, full name--Specialty Coffee Association of America, Chinese translation for "American Specialty Coffee Association" also has a small number of people called "American Specialty Coffee Association." SCAA is the world's largest coffee trade association, a trade organization focused on premium coffee. SCAA was founded in 1982 and has more than 3,000 member companies in more than 40 countries covering all sectors of the coffee industry, including coffee growers, coffee roasters, coffee equipment manufacturers, and various coffee traders.

SCAA is committed to providing a common platform for the pursuit of coffee excellence from seed to cup and the sustainable development of premium coffee, establishing coffee quality standards and standardizing certification standards for coffee professionals. Its main functions include: setting and maintaining coffee quality standards within the coffee industry; conducting research on coffee, coffee equipment and coffee craftsmanship; providing coffee education, training, resources and business services to its members; and establishing standards for barista evaluation and certification by SCAA, one of the most authoritative barista certifications in the world.

Every year, the association holds various coffee exhibitions, coffee seminars and barista championships. The annual meeting of the association, held in different cities every spring, is the largest gathering of coffee professionals in the world today.

SCAA has two branches: Barista Guild of America and Roasters Guild, both of which are composed of professional coffee practitioners who exchange information, skills training and cooperation to improve the quality of coffee in the industry. The Coffee Quality Institute (CQI) is SCAA's charitable trust and the coffee industry's largest provider of coffee training and technical assistance.
SCAA certification is highly authoritative. SCAA certified coffee judges (Certified SCAA Cupping Judges) Only three, all from the United States; Certified SCAA Coffee Quality Taster (Licensed Q Graders) Currently, there are 521 licensed Q graders in the world, from 18 countries, of which Colombia has the largest number, 161. Japan has the largest number in Asia, with 60. China has so far been the first Licensed Q grader in mainland China, named Lu Jiewei, serving in Beijing. SCAA also provides various certifications for coffee practitioners and coffee enterprises all over the world, including:
Barista Guild of America Certification
It is a professional barista training course with three levels from low to high: Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3. There are courses and exams at each level. You can take the exam after completing the course. If you think you are good enough, you can take the exam without taking the course. After passing the exam, you can get a certificate.
Coffee Brewer Certification
Coffee machine manufacturers can contact SCAA to apply for certification of their coffee machines. All coffee machines applying for certification will be sent to SCAA's office center in Long Beach, California for testing. Coffee machines that pass the test can be marked with the certified product logo.
Cupping Judges Lab Certification
This accredited laboratory can be used to teach SCAA Coffee Taster Certification courses
