Kamwangi Kamwangi, Kenya

The Camwangi Water washing Plant (Kamwangi factory) is one of two washing plants operated by the New Ngarima Cooperative (New Ngariama Cooperative Society). It was established in 1997 and the third one is about to begin operation. Kamuwangi is located in the Kirin Yaga producing area in central Kenya.

Kirin Yaga's small farmers all over the foothills of Mount Kenya are famous for their amazing coffee, delicious acidity and clean flavor. The varieties planted are SL28, SL34, and a small number of K7 and Ruiru 11.

After cherry screening, the good cherry begins the treatment process, first removing the peel and pulp, using the traditional 4-plate peeling machine, and then fermenting for 12-16 hours, depending on the weather and temperature, the fermentation process can decompose the sugar in the pectin and make it easy to clean.

After fermentation, it is washed and graded according to density in running water ditches, the highest grade P1 shell beans will be soaked in clean water for 12-24 hours, and finally in the African dry shed bed for 12-20 days, depending on the weather conditions. At noon and at night, coffee beans should be covered with plastic tarpaulins to protect them from rain and moisture.
