Coffee varieties have a long history. The four common varieties of Arabica coffee are bourbon, Tibica, Kaddura and Kaduai.

Since 1892, French missionary Tian Deneng spread a coffee seed on the land of Yunnan, and Yunnan coffee has been planted for more than a hundred years.

Today, in the Pu'er Mountains in Yunnan, thousands of miles from the first-tier cities in the north, Shanghai and Guangzhou, there is a group of coffee farmers working hard all the year round.

After nearly five years of cultivation, these four new coffee varieties have gone through dozens of complex procedures such as planting, picking, peeling and degumming, shelling and roasting.

Aiyi Group has been focused on Yunnan coffee industry for nearly 30 years, since it reached a cooperation with Starbucks in 2011 to establish Starbucks Yunnan Coffee Joint Venture.

In addition to commercial cooperation, the two sides also work together to improve the planting level of coffee in Yunnan, and the promotion and selection of varieties.

Since 2011, with the help of Starbucks and the Yunnan provincial government, Aiyi Group has introduced 33 high-quality coffee varieties, such as Rosa, Bobang, Kaddura, Kadoue, Tieka, Verasaci and Regina, from the main coffee producing areas of the world to plant in Aiyi Manor, and established the World Coffee Expo Park.

The project has also been established and supported by the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Science and Technology of China, and the Department of Agriculture of Yunnan Province has also given strong support. Seedlings were successfully raised in 2012, transplanted in June 2013, and fully put into production in 2015.

The western and southern parts of Yunnan Province are located between 15 °N and the Tropic of Cancer, and some areas are above 1000 meters above sea level. The topography is mainly mountainous and sloping, with large undulation, fertile soil, sufficient sunshine, abundant rainfall and large temperature difference between day and night.

The unique natural conditions form the particularity of the taste of Yunnan small-grain coffee. Pu'er City is located in the southwest of Yunnan Province, with undulating mountains, the mountain area of the whole region accounts for 98.3%, and the elevation is obvious in vertical climate. The altitude is between 376m and 3306 m. The excellent geographical environment not only creates the mellow taste of Pu'er tea, but also creates the distinctive flavor of "Regina" coffee beans.
