The Yukro Cooperative was originally established in 1977 and is located in Wanja Qarsa Village, Gera District, Jimma. Today, they are part of the Keta Meduga Alliance, which is the umbrella of the best-performing cooperatives in Western Ethiopia in terms of coffee quality, such as Biftu Gudina and Duromina.
When we bought back this cup of coffee, it was only as a natural coffee, and we have been fans of the Yukro Cooperative ever since. Since Technoserve realized its own central washing station, we are pleased to offer a washed product: refreshing, clean, lemon, floral, reminiscent of Yirgacheffe.
The coffee is produced in the semi-forest farming system of 1 to 20 hectares of smallholder farms. These plants grow well in natural conditions, surrounded by evergreen jungles. Cherries are processed immediately after picking; use the eco-friendly Penagos 1500 pulping machine. The mucus was removed mechanically after fermentation for 12 hours. In the morning, leave the coffee on a cool drying bed for 3-4 hours and begin the drying process. Finally, dry on an elevated drying bed in Africa for 6-7 days, move and classify regularly.
