Catucai originated in Brazil and is now found in countries as far away as Haiti, but it is a hybrid of Icatu and Catuai, available in red and yellow. Like its mother (or father?), it is a hardy variety that performs well in windy areas. Its Icatu root is shown in its resistance to coffee leaf rust.
For some reason, red Catucai trees are obviously a little taller than their yellow sisters. However, both have strict requirements for water and fertilizer, otherwise they will not be able to achieve the best yield.
The plant (especially the late strain) showed good resistance to coffee leaf rust and Foma / Ahsokota and matured evenly, which was conducive to a more stable harvest.
