The Gaturiri plant is located in the Nyeri region of southern Kenya and is part of the Barichu cooperative. Gaturiri serves about 1100 small producers, producing about 600t of cherries. Fresh water from the Kirigu River is used in the treatment process. Gaturiri is a Kikuyu term for "shrub", which grows mainly in the area. Barichu's job is to provide tuition fees, agricultural inputs and other emergency loans to farmers. Their goal is to help farmers understand crop farming and other agricultural practices that are important to coffee. They have a demonstration area funded by tropical management and provide nurseries and mature seedlings for society as a whole to help reduce the decline in farmers' yields / incomes.
