Baoshan Lujiangba is a unique dry and hot valley climate in Yunnan Province and even the whole country, which is very suitable for the growth of coffee trees. There are two export methods: direct export and proxy export, with the former accounting for about 60% and the latter accounting for about 40%. Domestic trade is mainly sold to Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Beijing, Hainan and Kunming.

Baoshan, as one of the three major producing areas of small-grain coffee in Yunnan, is a pioneer in the cultivation and processing of small-grain coffee in China. According to textual research, the oldest coffee tree has been for more than 60 years, and Baoshan coffee ranks second in the country in terms of planting area and output value.

In the coffee planning from 2010 to 2020, the planned area of Baoshan producing area will reach 250000 mu in 2015 and 500000 mu in 2020. However, according to the statistics of Baoshan Coffee Chamber of Commerce, by 2015, the planting area of coffee in Baoshan has exceeded 235000 mu, the output of coffee is 35120 tons, and the output value is 640 million yuan. Among them, the export is 10086 tons, earning foreign exchange is 36546140 US dollars, the agricultural output value is 634 million yuan, and the sales output value is 699 million yuan. If all processed locally, the industrial output value will be about 4.5 billion yuan, which will become the largest industry in Baoshan City.

According to the current development rate, the planting area of Baoshan coffee will reach more than 400000 mu in 2020 (the suitable planting area of Baoshan coffee is about 1 million mu, and the most suitable planting area is about 50-600000 mu). At present, there are 18888 coffee farmers, more than 50 planting enterprises, more than 30 processing trade enterprises and 5 export qualified enterprises in the city.

As the main producing area of Baoshan coffee, Longyang District was listed as one of the national coffee production bases by the South Asian Hot Zone Office of the State Council in 1980. Since the provincial party committee and provincial government launched the biological innovation project in 1995, Baoshan coffee industry has developed rapidly, mainly concentrated in Lujiangba and 4 (county and city) villages and towns in Longyang District. After decades of development, the quality of coffee has been greatly improved, and it has been praised as the world-class quality by coffee experts at home and abroad.

Due to the unique natural conditions in Baoshan, the small-grain coffee produced by Baoshan has a mellow aroma and a moist taste, of which the small-grain coffee produced by Lujiangba in Baoshan is the most famous, its fragrance is mellow, strong but not bitter, fragrant but not strong.
