Coffee producing area

El Laurel is located near the city of Danli in the province of El Paraiso, one of the six major producing areas in southern Honduras, in the mountains to the northwest.

Laurel Manor comes from a planting block with an altitude of 1400 meters above sea level, where the annual rainfall is about 2000 mm. The unique geographical and climatic conditions make Honduras have the conditions to produce high-quality coffee.

After competing in the Honduras CoE Cup in 2017, Laurel Manor won the championship with a high score of 91.81 and broke the record for the highest amount of bids in history with prices of $124.50 and $122.90 per pound.

The father of Oscar Daniel Ramirez Valerio, the landowner, gave him half a hectare of land to grow crops, and then the landowner bought some of his own land, which is the whole planting area of Laurel Manor.

The manor is managed by the landowner and his wife, who employs 10 to 15 employees during the harvest season, and the son of the manor will help when he is free.

Coffee variety

The variety "Parainema", which won the championship in Laurel Manor that year, is one of the artificially cultivated varieties in the laboratory.

Parainema is a hybrid from experimental cultivation, which is transformed by SarchimorT5296 hybridization. It has the advantages of high resistance to leaf rust and insect pests, sturdy character, but delicate flavor changes.

The Palayinema coffee tree is small and compact in appearance, with green top leaves and large and slender coffee beans.

At first glance, Parainama bears some resemblance to Pacamara, but in fact it has nothing to do with it.

Para has the meaning of resistance, while Nema refers to Nematodes nematode, which represents the ability of Parainema to resist coffee nematode. Coupled with the pedigree from SarchimorT5296, the variety is resistant to leaf rust, which is very important in this place where leaf rust is rampant.

Coffee grade

The grade of coffee beans in Honduras takes altitude as the main standard.

S: Standard grade, planting height is 610m to 915m

HG: High Grown grade, planting height is 915m to 1220 m

SHG: Strictily High Grown grade, planting height is more than 1221 meters

And this laurel manor is planted at 1400 meters above sea level, belonging to the SHG grade.
