The Muyinga coffee producing area borders Tanzania in northeastern Burundi near the top of the Congo Ridge of the Nile River. The climate here is mild, volcanic soil, annual precipitation of 1300 mm, an average of 1800 meters above sea level, creating ideal conditions for coffee growth.

Here, farmers grow their own food and grow crops to supplement their income, and coffee is one of them. The coffee in this area is small, with between 50 and 250 trees on most farms, producing only a few sacks of coffee beans, and growers take the picked beans to the local cleaning station every day. About 2000 farmers provide high-quality coffee in the mountain spring water 2 kilometers away. After washing the beans, the waste water and pulp peel are treated and settled into fertile organic fertilizer, which is used by farmers as fertilizer for coffee trees to grow.
