What is Darjeeling Tea?

Darjeeling Tea is made from a Chinese tea variety, Camellia (Camellia sinensis). This is a thin, light-colored tea with a floral fragrance. Like most plants, tea trees go through periods of growth and dormancy. Each flowering is a period of time, from the beginning of the new leaves of the tea tree to the end of the tea harvest. Darjeeling Tea has three characteristics. The first flush occurred from mid-March to May, the second from June to mid-August, and the third from October to November.

There are also two small tea seasons. The monsoon tea season is two weeks between the first and second tea seasons. The rainy season / monsoon tide is between the second and third in September.

Since all this is based on weather patterns, the time period is not fixed, depending on the weather in Darjeeling and the location of the manor. Excessive rainfall earlier than expected can reduce the duration of the second tea season and increase the length of the rainy tea season by several weeks, and vice versa.

Different colors will produce different tastes, colors and aromas. When the tea is fermented, the flavonol in the tea combines with the oxygen in the air. It is this process that distinguishes black tea, oolong tea and green tea varieties. Darjeeling black tea is fully fermented, oolong tea is semi-fermented, Darjeeling green tea is not fermented at all.

The best time to drink

Darjeeling Tea is most suitable for drinking around 10:00 in the morning or in the early afternoon. It does contain some caffeine, so you should avoid drinking it in the late afternoon or in the evening (people who are sensitive to caffeine should be earlier). If you have a sensitive stomach, avoid drinking Darjeeling Tea on an empty stomach.
