Brazilian coffee exports fell 27% in August from a year earlier.

Brazilian coffee exporters Cecaf é said that Brazilian coffee exports fell 27 percent year-on-year in August to 2.33 million bags (60 kilograms each) due to the difficulty of finding containers and shipping space.

According to Cecaf é 's monthly report, about 3.5 million bags of coffee could not be delivered on time this year due to delays in transport, resulting in losses of about US $500m for Brazil's coffee export industry.

Brazilian coffee shipments in August were the smallest monthly shipments in at least a year.

Nicholas Rueda, president of Cecaf é, said the operational crisis had led to a sharp rise in freight rates, repeated cancellation of orders and increasing difficulty in booking new containers and cabins.

Due to the deteriorating situation, 40 to 50 per cent of all coffee shipments have been delayed at the port in the past three months, compared with 10 to 20 per cent in the first few months of this year.

Brazil accounts for nearly 40 per cent of the global coffee trade, and delays could disrupt the operations of its biggest customer.

Brazil received 604 container ships in August, down 10 per cent from the same period last year, according to Datamar, a shipping information agency.

Brazil has sold 60% of this year's coffee production

As of September 6, local time, Brazil had sold 60 per cent of this year's coffee production, up from 58 per cent in the same period last year and 48 per cent in the past five years, according to Safras & Mercado, a local information agency.

Safras & Mercado points out that Arabica's sales account for only 58%, and the growth rate has slowed. In the same period last year, the proportion was 60%. Even so, it is still well above the average of about 46% for the same period.

Rainfall in Brazil

According to the Sept. 14 article on the website S & P Global, Brazil's local meteorological department predicts that rain will fall in southern Brazil from September 14 to September 20.

Brazil's National Meteorological Institute said that between September 14 and 20, the areas with the highest total rainfall were in the north-central part of Rio Grande do Sul and the southern part of Santa Catarina, with between 80 and 150 millimeters of rainfall. Accumulated rainfall of nearly 70 millimeters may also occur in the north-central part of Santa Catarina.

According to the Coffee Finance Network on September 15, according to data from Brazil's National Institute of Meteorology, the cold air will gradually move to more areas of Brazil and bring widespread rainfall, such as a cumulative rainfall of 30 millimeters in Parana, and obvious rainfall in the two coffee-producing areas of Mato Grossodo South and the south of Sao Paulo.
