Recently, a netizen posted a post on social media questioning the salary and benefits of Lucky's recruitment of part-time baristas in Hong Kong.

The screenshot shows that a recruitment information for Ruixing full-time barista was posted on a public platform, in which the salary and benefits column was marked,"Three months after employment: salary on labor leave, payment of Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) in accordance with the law, annual leave." However, another part-time barista recruitment information did not mention whether to pay mandatory provident funds to employees.

According to the requirements of the Hong Kong Mandatory Provident Fund Authority, employers must arrange for employees who are 18 years old but under 65 years old and have been employed under a written or verbal employment contract for 60 days, whether "full-time" or "part-time" and regardless of the number of working hours per week, to enrol in an MPF scheme and make contributions. In other words, as long as the employee has worked for more than 60 days, according to the current regulations in Hong Kong, the employer is required to pay MPF for the employee.

Therefore, the poster believed that in the recruitment information released by Ruixing, it was unreasonable to "pay mandatory provident funds in accordance with the law" as the salary and benefits of full-time employees who had been employed for three months, and not explicitly to pay MPF to part-time employees in the recruitment information."Don't put forward such harsh conditions."

Once this post was posted, it immediately attracted the attention of Ruixing workers in the mainland. They revealed that in fact, all ordinary employees of Ruixing are part-time employees. They are promoted to deputy store managers through internal assessment six months after joining the job. They are considered to be converted from part-time to full-time and enjoy five insurances and one gold. If the assessment is not passed, the original part-time employee benefits will be maintained, and "there are many people who have worked for a year who are counted as 'part-time'."

Therefore, when seeing the salary and benefits of Ruixing's part-time staff in Hong Kong, many migrant workers lamented,"Compared with the mainland, this condition is already very superior.""Hong Kong actually provides five insurances and one gold in three months... In mainland Ruixing has to work until the store manager and deputy store manager can be considered a regular employee to pay social security." He made no secret of his admiration for his work benefits.

However, according to popular science among onlookers in Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Mandatory Provident Fund (also known as MPF, MPF), which aims to accumulate financial reserves for employees 'retirement through mandatory contributions, is actually completely different from the mainland's five insurances and one pension. It is a retirement system that requires qualified employers, employees and self-employed people to participate.

They pointed out that according to Hong Kong's current regulations, whether employees in the catering industry are full-time or part-time, even if they only work for one day, employers are required to pay MPF for their employees in accordance with the law."It will be available for one month","It should be mandatory for every day of work." He dared to have MPF for three months "," I have to pay it even if I work as a student helper for a few hours ", and" I have to pay it every day."

In the view of most Hong Kong netizens, paying MPF for employees is an employer's duty. As an employer, Ruixing should not confuse the concept and regard what employers should do as stipulated in the Ordinance as remuneration and benefits for workers.
