Yunnan Pu'er has become the coffee production area with the largest planting area, the highest yield and the best quality in China and the main distribution center of coffee trade. On December 10, 2012, the Coffee Bean Branch of China Fruit Circulation Association named Pu'er the "Coffee Capital of China".
Chairman Zhang Jincheng read out the document agreeing to Pu'er 's naming as "Coffee Capital of China".
On the morning of January 7, 2013, the awarding ceremony of "Coffee Capital of China" was held in Pu'er. At the licensing ceremony, Chairman Zhang Jincheng read out a reply from the Yunnan Pu'er Municipal Government on applying for the honorary title of "Coffee Capital of China", fully affirming the great contribution made by the Pu'er Municipal Government in the coffee industry and agreeing to Pu'er 's naming as the "Coffee Capital of China". The delegates attending the ceremony gave the people of Pu'er a lasting thunderous applause. At the same time, the Ambassador of Jamaica to China and the Ambassador of Colombia to China expressed congratulations.
