The World Barista (barista) Competition was first held in Yunnan on January 7, 2013.

This is the first time that the Barista (barista) competition has been held in Yunnan coffee producing areas. At that time, the Jamaican Ambassador to China, the head of the representative office of the Colombian Coffee Association in China, and the head of domestic coffee organizations such as the Beijing Coffee Association will come to Pu'er to participate in the event.

According to the organizers, the competition is sponsored by the people's Government of Pu'er City, China Fruit Circulation Association and Shanghai Bohua International Exhibition Co., Ltd. Pu'er Coffee Industry Federation, Pu'er Coffee Office, China Fruit Circulation Association Coffee Bean Branch, Pu'er 1% Coffee. The purpose is to promote and display Pu'er coffee, expand the popularity and influence of Pu'er coffee, promote Pu'er coffee to upgrade its brand, go to the world, and make every effort to build "the coffee capital of China".

It is understood that the Pu'er competition will invite famous cup testing experts at home and abroad, such as the United States, Brazil, and Taiwan, as judges to provide Pu'er coffee with Colombian coffee, Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee, and Hawaii Kona Coffee.

In addition to the competition, Pu'er City will also arrange for contestants and guests to visit Pu'er Ecological Coffee Garden and other activities to experience Pu'er 's unique climatic conditions, scientific and ecological planting methods, and show one of the most suitable areas in the world for growing coffee.
