Yunnan is one of the third largest hot areas in China. In recent years, with the pull of market demand and the strong support of the Yunnan provincial party committee and provincial government, the coffee industry in Yunnan has developed rapidly. At present, the planting area and output have accounted for more than 99% of the country. Among them, the planting area and output of Pu'er City accounted for more than half of Yunnan coffee. The fragrant Beverage Institute of the Academy of Thermal Sciences began to tackle key problems in coffee research in 1957. It has strong technical and talent advantages in coffee variety improvement, pest prevention and control, and processing. The newly established coffee innovation center will join Yunnan agricultural science and education units. Yunnan small seed coffee standardization, standardization, sustainable production as the focus of research, to promote the healthy and sustainable development of Yunnan coffee industry.

After the opening, the fragrant drink Institute of the Academy of Thermal Sciences also signed a scientific and technological cooperation agreement with Yunnan Pu'erman Laojiang Agricultural Development Co., Ltd. The two sides will carry out substantive cooperation in the cultivation of new coffee varieties, regional trial planting, research and promotion of integrated pest control technology, demonstration and promotion of standardized production technology and brand promotion strategy.
