Pu'er City, as an important producing area of small grain coffee in Yunnan, by the end of 2011, the planting area of coffee is 439000 mu, the output is 28000 tons, the output value is 850 million yuan, the planting area and output account for more than half of the country respectively.

This year, Pu'er City will also plant 200000 mu of ecological coffee, bringing the total planting area of coffee in the city to 639000 mu and the output to 30, 000 tons.

At present, Pu'er City is still accelerating the development of coffee industry, vowing to build Pu'er City into the "coffee capital of China".

As an important producing area of small-grain coffee in Yunnan, Pu'er City is constantly speeding up the development of coffee industry and vowing to build Pu'er City into the "coffee capital of China".

According to the International Coffee Organization website, as of December 2011, global coffee production reached 132,407 thousand bags, according to 60 kilograms per bag, global coffee production is 7.94 million tons. In 2012, Yunnan is expected to produce 60, 000 tons of coffee, which will account for 98% of the country's coffee production, but only 7/1000 of the world's coffee production.

Since Nestl é and Starbucks entered Yunnan, Yunnan small grain coffee has become famous, but its overall production has been stretched. From the perspective of the development of the overall industrial chain, Yunnan coffee has always stayed at the planting level, has always played the role of raw material supplier, and the overall level of development is still at the end of the industrial chain.

Coffee blueprint with 3 billion investment in 10 years

In March last year, with the consent of the Yunnan provincial government, led by the Yunnan Provincial Development and Reform Commission and the Yunnan Provincial Department of Agriculture, the relevant departments and scientific research institutes jointly formulated the Yunnan Coffee Industry Development Plan (2010-2020) (hereinafter referred to as "the Plan").

According to the Plan, our province plans to invest 3 billion yuan in 10 years to increase the planting area of coffee in the province to 1 million mu by 2015, with an area of 800000 mu, with an annual output of 96000 tons of coffee beans, with a total output value of more than 17 billion yuan. By 2020, the planting area will be stable at about 1.5 million mu, with an annual output of 200000 tons of raw coffee beans, with a total output value of more than 34 billion yuan.

Pu'er City, as an important producing area of small-grain coffee in Yunnan, by the end of 2011, the planting area of coffee in the city had reached 439000 mu, with an output of 28000 tons and an output value of 850 million yuan. coffee planting area and output accounted for more than half of China's total coffee area and total output respectively.

According to Pu'er City's "2012 Pu'er City Coffee Industry Development work Plan", this year, the city will also plant 200000 mu of ecological coffee, bringing the city's total coffee planting area to 639000 mu and output to 30, 000 tons. In addition, 50 professional farmers' coffee cooperatives and 50 new coffee processing plants will be set up as the key work of the government, and strive to achieve an output value of 900 million yuan. At present, Pu'er City is constantly accelerating the development of coffee industry, vowing to build Pu'er City into the "coffee capital of China".

At the planting level, this is also the focus of the Pu'er municipal government's support. It is understood that in 2012, the Pu'er municipal government will enjoy a state subsidy of 120 yuan per mu for the construction of ecological coffee gardens and for those who are included in the project to consolidate the results of returning farmland to forests. For large growers who are in line with the support and reward policy, the municipal level will give each household 150000 yuan in support and reward funds.

In the circulation link, for every ton of coffee exported by coffee purchasing enterprises in Pu'er City, they will be able to enjoy a government reward of 100 yuan.

In the processing link, the leading coffee processing enterprises with an annual sales income of more than 50 million yuan and more than 500 tons of coffee products such as roasted beans or instant powder will be rewarded.

The development direction of leading enterprises

The policy has been favorable first, and the coffee industry in Yunnan may usher in considerable development. At present, the output of coffee planting area in Pu'er City accounts for more than half of China's total coffee area and total output respectively, and it is the largest small-grain coffee planting base in China. When it comes to the development of the coffee industry, we have to talk about several leading enterprises in Pu'er.

As a giant and predecessor of the coffee industry, Nestl é is the first coffee company to enter Pu'er. Nestle, which has been rooted in Pu'er for 23 years, buys more coffee in Pu'er than any other coffee company.

According to Gao Yingmin, a member of the coffee office of Pu'er Tea Bureau, Nestl é, a coffee boss in Pu'er Tea Township, currently accounts for 1/3 of Pu'er 's total output in Pu'er City. In November last year, Nestl é and the people's Government of Pu'er City signed a memorandum of understanding on strategic cooperation for the further development of Pu'er coffee industry and culture, in addition to continuing to provide technical support to Pu'er coffee farmers, it is also clear that it will gradually increase the purchase of coffee beans in Pu'er to provide support for stabilizing the supply chain of Pu'er coffee.

"Aichi Coffee is the key support object this year." Gao Yingmin told reporters that as Starbucks' only coffee bean raw material supplier in China, Aixue Coffee has achieved a new milestone in Yunnan coffee industry. Starbucks, which has always been famous for its quality and has almost strict requirements for coffee beans, has chosen Yunnan small-grain coffee. Their arrival will boost the development of Yunnan coffee industry, while Aiju coffee serves as a bridge between Yunnan and Starbucks. Its future development is bound to be eye-catching.

In 2011, Starbucks signed a memorandum of cooperation with Aiyi Group, and in 2012 the two sides formed a joint venture to buy and export high-quality Arabica coffee beans from Yunnan, while operating a coffee processing plant there. According to Li Xianrong, minister of coffee industry in Aiwei, "this year, Aiyi Coffee has provided Starbucks with 4000 tons of coffee beans, and all of them have passed the quality inspection of Starbucks."

Aiyi Group has nearly 10, 000 mu of coffee planting demonstration base, which is matched by 4 pastures with more than 100000 mu of alpine pasture. At present, the scale of beef cattle breeding has reached more than 2000. "I raise cattle mainly for cow dung." Liu Minghui, founder and chairman of Yunnan Aiyi Group, pretended to be serious and told the reporter that in fact, beef cattle breeding is mainly to provide organic fertilizer for coffee growth, which is also part of the ecological cultivation of Aigou coffee. In addition, "Rainforest Coffee" is also an ecological planting model widely promoted in Yunnan.

Manzhongtian, which is more than two hours' drive from Pu'er City, is the most important coffee farm for Aichi Coffee. In this area, where the average elevation is 1500 meters and the sunshine disappears after 2 p.m., coffee beans of similar quality have been cultivated. The annual output of these Zhenpin coffee beans is only 16 tons. More than 30 coffee varieties from Costa Rica currently cultivated here will be planted in the rainforest in June this year.

Manya Coffee can be called the newcomer of Pu'er Coffee. As a local coffee enterprise in Pu'er, Manya Coffee not only has its own coffee planting base and coffee processing production line, but also chose to popularize coffee culture in Pu'er City and Yunnan Province. It is reported that at present, Manya Coffee has obtained the training qualification of baristas recognized by the Provincial Labor Department. The first phase of the primary and intermediate barista training in Pu'er City has successfully graduated 40 baristas. At present, they have set up baristas training stations in Kunming and Ning'er County.

Deep processing of short board

In 2011, the output value of coffee in Pu'er City was 850 million yuan. However, Gao Yingmin told reporters: "this output value is entirely composed of raw materials, and the initial and deep processing output value is relatively small, which is not counted."

The initial deep processing is weak, which has always been the deficiency of the development of Yunnan coffee industry. In the future, intensive processing is the only way to solve the shortcomings of the development of coffee industry, and it is also an important direction of Yunnan coffee enterprises.

People in the coffee industry believe that in order to resist the continuous decline in prices and the harm of unsalable coffee, Yunnan coffee must take the road of intensive processing and brand marketing, enhance the added value of Yunnan coffee, and extend the coffee industry chain. At the same time, it is necessary for various government departments to carry out a series of optimization in the use of financial means and the promotion of agricultural insurance to strengthen the support for various funds and policies for the development of agricultural industries, so as to create better and better conditions for farmers to increase their income and become rich.

As far as local enterprises in Yunnan are concerned, Hougu Coffee, as a supplier of Nestle raw materials, announced cuts and stopped the supply of raw materials to Nestle and began to create its own coffee brand in 2008. At present, Hougu is the only local manufacturer in Yunnan that can produce instant coffee powder. On the other hand, Aiyi Coffee is more favored by the local government because of its cooperation with Starbucks and the establishment of a local coffee processing plant. However, many other coffee enterprises still stay at the level of raw material supply, and there are few enterprises that can carry out intensive processing.

Outshining others is not spring. In order to make great progress in Yunnan coffee industry, intensive processing is the only way, and in the face of competition from international coffee giants, Yunnan coffee needs the effect of industrial clusters more. And this will be a situation that the government will like to hear and hear.
