Starting with coffee beans (9)-- America-- Honduras
Generally speaking, Honduran coffee has a good reputation and is suitable for blended coffee. Coffee in Honduras is imported from El Salvador. Honduras produces high-acid, high-quality coffee. In Honduras, as elsewhere, coffee grades vary according to altitude: coffee grown between 700 and 1,000 meters above sea level is medium, coffee grown between 1,000 and 1,500 meters above sea level is excellent, and coffee grown between 1,500 and 2,000 meters above sea level is excellent.
After the Brazilian frost of 1975, coffee production in Honduras increased significantly, from 500,000 bags to 1.8 million bags in 20 years. Coffee rust is a major threat to coffee in the country, especially in the east, and the pharmaceutical sprays used to treat the disease have been instrumental in boosting coffee production.
All Honduran coffee is exported by individual carriers, mostly to the United States and Germany.
