In the middle of Xiamen Island, there is a very wide water surface named Lake. The lake covers an area of 1.7 square kilometers and is the largest lake in Xiamen Island. The lake was not created by nature, but by artificial reclamation. In the past, it was an inner bay in the north of old Xiamen, east to Jiangtou Society, south to Coastal Road and Village, north to Wushipu and Xianyue, with a water surface of more than 10 square kilometers. When night falls, the fishing boats moored in the harbor are illuminated, forming a picture of "fishing fire", which is one of the eight scenic spots in Xiamen in the old days. During the reign of Emperor Xianfeng of the Qing Dynasty, land reclamation began on the south bank of the port. In the 1920s, several reclamation projects were carried out here, and the sea area was greatly reduced. In 1970, due to the policy of land reclamation from the sea at that time, Xiamen City built a 1700-meter-long "Haidian Seawall"(i.e."West Dike") on the west side of Haidian Port, and the former wide harbor was finally reclaimed as the inner lake of the city.

Luxury Western-style villas line the lake along the roadside of this short few hundred meters, and more than a dozen coffee restaurants are concentrated here, attracting travelers and leisure guests from all directions in their own unique ways.
