Colin Harmon, winner of the Irish Brista Coffee Competition.
The title of the World Barista Barista Coffee Competition is a testament to the professional stage of a barista, and the barista who won the place on this stage is considered to be a very good barista, and now we will take you into the coffee world of Colin Harmon, the champion of the Brista Coffee Competition in Ireland.
From the well-paid financial industry to quitting his job selling cars to open a coffee shop, Irish barista Colin Harmon already owns his own coffee shop in Dublin and has won the WBC Irish coffee championship three times. I shared my story in Guangzhou on July 23.
Chongqing coffee enthusiasts: when it comes to choosing coffee, some people say that espresso is the real coffee. Is that correct?
Colin: espresso is the hardest thing to make. Because even if you have a good machine, you may not be able to make good espresso. It's like buying a good car, not everyone can make the best of it.
Chongqing coffee enthusiast: have you ever met a customer who doesn't like your coffee?
Colin: there are always.
Chongqing coffee enthusiast: won't you be happy? after all, you are the champion?
Colin: it doesn't matter. You can't please everyone. If you have to do that, you won't be able to satisfy anyone in the end. Everyone's taste for coffee is very subjective. Once, a customer said that my coffee was poor, so I asked him what flavor he wanted. When I realized that he had the same taste as mine, I introduced him to another coffee shop.
Chongqing coffee enthusiast: do you like Starbucks coffee?
Colin: I've been to Starbucks' headquarters in Seattle. Starbucks people are very nice. Although I don't like Starbucks coffee, I like Starbucks culture. They let a lot of people know and come into contact with coffee.
Coffee enthusiasts in Chongqing: many people think that the most expensive coffee is the best. What do you think?
Colin: the most expensive is not necessarily the best. Your favorite coffee is the best.
Chongqing coffee enthusiast: what is the most expensive coffee you have ever had?
Colin: it's a new category. It's crazy to choose yellow coffee beans from generations of transplanted coffee trees. A small bag of 50 grams is worth $8000.
