The Kupec Cooperative was founded in April 2001. at first, it was composed of 110 members. After 10 years of development, it now has 2200 members and is so large that it has three washing treatment plants. The cooperative is located in the Gisenyi producing area in western Luanda closest to the Congolese border, several washing plants are built on the alpine lake Lake Kivu, which is 1450 meters above sea level, and hundreds of small farms are scattered on the plateau of 1500m to 1900m to the east of the lake. This place is located in the volcanic zone, high-altitude frozen in fertile volcanic soil and lakes to adjust the humid temperature and climatic conditions to provide an excellent growing environment for coffee trees, while Lake Keefe also brings pure water to the washing treatment plant. Such excellent natural conditions are rare to see throughout the African continent! Cooperatives have developed rapidly, and the quality of coffee beans has improved year after year. In recent COE and EAFCA competitions, Kupec cooperatives are not only regular customers, but also improve their ranking year by year, making them the best coffee producers in Rwanda.
