A photographic report by Shen Yue, a reporter from West China Community Daily.

"I remember that time a stranger came up to me and said, you made a very good coffee. At that time, I almost jumped for joy. " Komatsu said happily. The 18-year-old special teenager is the barista in the store, and he works with four other disabled people in the cafe, which provides jobs for the disabled. On December 2, the first coffee shop for the disabled in Sichuan Province officially opened.

Inspired by the song to open a cafe for the disabled

In the bustling commercial street of Jin Nantian Street, there is a special cafe with a staff of people with disabilities. Zhang Xi is the owner of the cafe. By chance, she began to volunteer at the special education center every week. while getting along with a group of autistic and mentally disabled children, Zhang Huan had a question in mind: "if one day these dolls lose the protection of their parents and teachers, who will protect them? how can they survive in society?"

Zhang Jie found the answer from her favorite song "happy birthday" MV from May Day. She saw a group of disabled children washing, baking and packing cars inside. "Why isn't there a similar place in Chengdu?" What can I do for them? " Zhang decided to open a caring cafe to provide employment assistance for people with disabilities.

After several twists and turns, the cafe was finally opened, funded by the government, undertaken by social organizations, and actually operated by Zhang Jie. It is not for the purpose of making money, but is committed to helping people with mild intellectual disabilities and disabilities integrate into society.

Let them find the meaning of dignity and life.

"the guests will come from the real world and will no longer be played by teachers and students. We want the students to live a normal life. They used to receive help, but now they are finally able to give openly to others and find the dignity and meaning of life, and their parents are relieved. " Zhang Xun said.

The cafe has a simple and warm little fresh style, but for the waiter's cautious pace and slightly trembling hands, it is hard to notice the "little secret" behind it: some of the waiters are full of Down syndrome patients and some are mentally retarded. There are a total of five disabled staff and a teacher who specializes in training them.

At the door, Xiaofeng, a waiter with a bright smile, works here with his buddies. Xiaofeng is a "Tang baby". He used to stay at home for fear that others would laugh at him for being different and for being disliked. Now he works and studies with friends who are close to him. Under the guidance of his teacher, he is confident in the face of strangers. Today, Komatsu and Xiaofeng freshen up every morning and go to cafes to make coffee and entertain guests.

Professional teachers provide skills training

According to the original idea, another purpose of the cafe was to provide skills training according to the areas of interest of the students. With the help of his teacher, Komatsu, who is mildly mentally retarded, has learned a set of stunts in making coffee, and now the fancy coffee he makes is even better than that made by Zhang. Although Xiaofeng is a patient with Down syndrome, he also learned how to deal with strangers under the guidance of his teacher. "I like to welcome the guests of the cafe happily so that they can know that we are doing well." Xiaofeng's sincere smile is loved by everyone.

"their professional skills are not poor at all, and some students have taken baking courses and will soon be able to make cookies and cupcakes for guests in cafes." Said Gao Jiannan, the head of the social organization responsible for the project.

The reporter interviewed the guests in the store at random. Li Pan, a 20-year-old student majoring in mechanical and electrical engineering, said: "I will come here often when I know the significance of this store and its significance." I prefer to stay here than other chain stores, at least the money I pay here will be used for charity. "
