Vietnam Bang Mei Shu (Buon Me Thuot), first heard of this place name is quite strange, with curiosity, exploration feelings to go, mellow and charming coffee, ethnic minority cultural characteristics, coffee and cultural integration of the unique amorous feelings, write down my impression of Bang Mei Shu.

◎ Plateau Beautiful Coffee Capital

With the approach of hot summer, I came to Bang Mei Shu, the capital of Dak Lak province in Vietnam. Although this place is located on a plateau hundreds of meters above sea level, it still clearly feels the heat of the scorching sun and the muggy smell in the air, and the hot crowds and cars flowing through the urban area break the imagination that it is a quiet small town rich in coffee. The street is dotted with snack vendors, people who enjoy coffee at leisure on the roadside seats of coffee shops, the true portrayal of local humanities and life, the close experience of local residential life, the new star-rated restaurants and wide streets scattered in the urban area, and the addition of modern cityscape, which is also the proof of the urban development and construction of Bang Mei-Shu in recent years.

Bang Mei Shu coffee is famous and often known as the "coffee capital", mainly because the climate and soil here are suitable for growing coffee beans, and the quality of coffee beans is among the highest in Vietnam, such as the precious, rare and expensive musk cat coffee (Weasel Coffee), which is also produced here, making Bang Mei Shu coffee famous. In addition, Dale Province, where Bang Mei Shu is located, is one of the agricultural areas in Vietnam, with coffee, rubber and bananas as its main products, of which coffee production accounts for the largest, and it is one of the main coffee producing areas in Vietnam. Therefore, there are many coffee gardens and coffee factories here, such as the headquarters of ─ Trung Nguyen Coffee, the most famous coffee brand in Vietnam. It is reported that Vietnam is currently the second largest coffee exporter in the world, second only to Brazil, with Robusta coffee beans as the bulk of its exports, while Robusta coffee beans are mostly produced in Dale province.

In addition to being rich in coffee, Dale Province and several neighboring provinces are the main ethnic minority areas in Vietnam. There are about 40 ethnic minority tribes living here, such as Ede, Ma Nong, Ma, and so on. Many tall houses with ethnic characteristics, as well as the life and cultural customs of ethnic minority tribes, have also become a unique cultural landscape here. At the same time, they also inject humanistic atmosphere into Dale Province and Bangmeishu in addition to the smell of coffee. It also shows the unique charm of coffee combined with humanities.

Vietnam coffee mellow dripping

Coffee culture in Vietnam originates from the cultural influence of the French colonial era. In Vietnam, coffee shops and coffee drinkers can be seen on the streets from time to time. Bang Mei Shu is famous for its coffee, and it is no doubt that there are a large number of coffee shops. The local tour guide laughed and said: if you drink coffee in one coffee shop a day, it will take more than a year to drink all the coffee shops in Bang Mei Shu.

Vietnamese coffee is also different from ordinary coffee. The traditional way of drinking Vietnamese coffee is coffee with condensed milk, which tastes strong and sweet after stirring, and because most of the coffee beans are roasted with cream and smell with strong milk and scorched aromas. the taste of coffee is also mellow and tends to be "heavy" coffee.

In addition to the unique taste, the coffee is made in different ways. When Vietnamese coffee is brewed, place a dripping pot on top of the cup that has been added condensed milk, put the coffee powder in the dripping pot, then inject hot water, after a few seconds the coffee begins to drip, and a cup of mellow coffee is finished a few minutes later. Stir the coffee and condensed milk well when drinking, which is authentic Vietnamese coffee! If you drink iced coffee, pour the well-stirred coffee and condensed milk into a cup filled with ice. If you drink hot coffee, you can taste it directly, or add appropriate hot water to dilute it. On their own tasting experience, hot water diluted, coffee taste is not too strong, drink more palatable, in addition, if condensed milk taste is too sweet, condensed milk can also be reduced, or without condensed milk, taste the original black coffee.

Cultural customs of ethnic minorities

Dale Province is an ethnic minority area in Vietnam, and the most representative building is the tall houses where they live, all over Dale Province and Bang Mei-Shu. These houses with national characteristics have a herringbone-shaped sloping roof, and the whole house is built at a distance from the ground. The local tour guide said that the space under the house can also be used to raise poultry and livestock. in addition to this function, if dangerous and aggressive wild animals appear, they will first hunt the poultry under the house and make a noise, so that the residents can be vigilant or leave the house to avoid danger.

As the tall house is some distance from the ground, entering and leaving the house need to rely on the stairs, so there are steps in front of the house. When visiting Ako Dhong Village, an ethnic minority village in Bang Mei and Shu, he saw the decoration with female chest characteristics on the steps in front of the chief's home. He couldn't help asking curiously. The tour guide smiled and explained: most of the ethnic minority tribes are matrilineal societies, and the decoration on the stairs implies respect. In addition, when guests enter and leave the upper and lower stairs of the house, they will touch this "decoration". It also shows the courtesy and respect of the owner to the guests. So, if you read it, don't have any "impure" reverie!

Another feature of the tall house is that most of the buildings are long-shaped, and all the members of a large family live together. There are several windows on the side wall of the house, it is said that if the window is open, it means that the daughter living in this room is unmarried; on the contrary, it means married. Wen Bi Guer thought: it is really a simple method of identification!

Natural landscape watching waterfalls by riding elephants

From Bang Mei Shu to the northwest to the village of Ban Don, where elephants live, it has long been famous for catching and training elephants. Bangtun, which means "village on the island", is geographically close to the border between Cambodia and Laos, as well as ─ Yok Don National Park, the largest national park in Vietnam. The rich natural landscape and environment make it a habitat for many animals and plants, and elephants are one of them. It is reported that the villagers in Bangtun villages in the past mostly had a barter way of life. because of their high economic value, elephants have become one of the animals that residents like to hunt, and Bangtun has also become an elephant trading center.

In addition to hunting elephants, it is also a famous place for elephant training and breeds many excellent elephant trainers, the most famous local elephant hunter, who has trained more than 400 elephants in his lifetime. Many elephant hunting tools can be seen when visiting his house. Most of the elephants are hunted by 3-year-old and 5-year-old elephants, who are starved for a few days after hunting, and then feed them and develop emotions with them, the local tour guide said. He added that due to the gradual decline in the number of elephants hunted, there are now less than 60 elephants in the wild, and government authorities have banned elephant hunting since 1997 to protect elephants from extinction.

At present, in the Bangtun area, you can ride an elephant to walk in the village and the jungle, browse the green meaning of the jungle rickety on the elephant's back, occasionally hide the tall houses of ethnic minorities in the trees, and live in local dwellings. When the elephant crossed the river, he sat on the elephant's back and watched the river flow under his feet. Wow! It's adventurous and exciting.

Dray Nur Falls near Bangtun is also a popular scenic spot. Dray Nur Falls, which is about 250m long and 30m high, rushes down with great momentum. The tour guide said that during July and August, the water is the most abundant, the waterfall view and momentum are more spectacular, and watching in front is even a bit like the momentum of a tsunami!
