Xinhua Yunnan Channel, February 16 (Reporter He Chunhao) With the recent establishment of Starbucks and Yunnan Aini Group Joint Venture Company, Yunnan Province has become Starbucks 'only region to purchase coffee beans in the mainland of China at present, and this joint venture company is also Starbucks' first coffee bean purchase, processing and export joint venture established in Chinese mainland.

According to Liu Minghui, chairman of Aini Group, Starbucks and Aini Group's newly established joint venture company is called Starbucks Aini Co., Ltd., and Liu Minghui is the first CEO of the company. "The company's first phase will be to acquire coffee beans province-wide to supply Starbucks for use in the production of its integrated coffee products sold globally." Liu Minghui said. At present, Starbucks already has a comprehensive coffee product called "Fengwu Xiangyun" raw materials from Baoshan, Yunnan Province.

It is understood that Aini Group's first phase of fine processing roasted coffee beans (powder) production line has been completed and put into operation in January 2012, with an estimated annual output of 3000 tons of roasted coffee beans. In addition, the group plans to increase investment in coffee industry supporting facilities by 2015 to achieve an annual production scale of 5000 tons of roasted coffee powder and 20,000 tons of canned coffee drinks. Between 2009 and 2010, the group sourced and processed thousands of tons of coffee beans from more than 4,000 coffee farmers.

The reporter learned from the Coffee Industry Association of Yunnan Province that at the end of 2011, Yunnan's coffee planting area reached 860,000 mu (1 hectare =15 mu), which is China's largest coffee bean production and export base. The planting base of Aini Group is mainly located in Pu 'er City. According to Li Xiaoping, Mayor of Pu' er City, the coffee planting area of Pu 'er reached 439,000 mu by the end of 2011, with an output of 28,000 tons.

At present, the world's coffee giants have promoted coffee planting plans in Yunnan and accelerated the procurement of raw materials. Starbucks also plans to operate a coffee processing plant in Yunnan, the company said.
