According to the Nippon Keizai Shimbun, a research team at Osaka City University in Japan recently released the results of a study saying that patients with chronic type C (C) liver diseases such as hepatitis or cirrhosis will improve their liver function if they drink more than one cup of dripping coffee (dripcoffee) a day.

The team observed and analyzed the relationship between the changes of alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and the frequency of coffee drinking in 376 patients aged 20 to 80 who were treated at Osaka Municipal University Hospital. Hepatocyte injury generally leads to an increase in alanine aminotransferase (ALT) in the body.

It was found that people who drank more than one cup of dripping coffee a day were more likely to maintain normal or decrease their ALT levels after a year than those who did not. People who drank canned coffee, instant coffee and decaffeinated coffee had little effect.

In addition, the findings of the study were published in the American online science journal PLoSONE on the 11th.
