Last Updated: 2024/11/08, Liver cancer is the sixth largest cancer in the world and the third leading cause of death. A new study published in the American Journal of Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology found that drinking three cups of coffee a day can reduce the risk of liver cancer by more than 50 percent, according to the US Global News Network.

The new study was carried out by Dr. Carola Vikzia, an epidemiologist at the University of Milan, Italy, and his colleagues. The researchers analyzed the literature on coffee and liver cancer published from 1996 to September 2012, including 16 high-level studies. The new study involved 3153 cases and included data on more than 900 recent cases of primary liver cancer. It was found that drinking coffee reduced the risk of primary liver cancer (the most common liver cancer) by 40%, while independent studies showed that drinking three cups of coffee a day reduced the risk of the disease by at least half.

Dr. Vickzia says new research confirms that drinking coffee is good for your health, especially for the liver. Early studies have confirmed that drinking coffee regularly can prevent diabetes, a known risk factor for liver cancer. The study also found that drinking coffee also had a positive effect on liver cirrhosis and liver enzymes.

Dr. Vickzia also said that liver cancer is mainly caused by chronic inflammation caused by hepatitis B and C. other causes include excessive drinking, smoking, obesity and diabetes. Liver cancer can be avoided by inoculating hepatitis B vaccine, controlling the spread of hepatitis C virus and reducing alcohol consumption. These three measures can prevent more than 90% of the world's liver cancer cases.
