Drinking coffee and driving is against the law in New Jersey, USA.
According to foreign media reports, lawmakers in New Jersey are definitely not coffee lovers, and several New Jersey state interpreters have proposed to make it illegal to drink coffee while driving.
If the bill is passed, people's preference for coffee on the way to work will come to an end, according to USA Today.
According to the legal text, the law aims to combat distracted driving, not specifically to define drinking coffee while driving as illegal. The law seeks to prohibit "anything that interferes with the safe operation of a car on a highway or highway that has nothing to do with the actual operation of a car".
That means that all actions that take your eyes off the road are illegal, including drinking coffee, eating and tidying up your image. According to the New Jersey Department of Highway Traffic Safety and USA Today, more than 3000 fatal crashes in 2014 were caused by distracted driving.
If the bill is passed, the cost of drinking coffee will be a little high. First-time offenders will be fined at least $200. If caught three times, the fine will rise to $600 to $800, and the driver's license may be revoked.
