The World Bank will help Jamaica's coffee industry reverse the decline in productivity
The price of dental coffee is at an all-time high, but the profits of the industry have slipped to an all-time low, and the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a subsidiary of the World Bank, will contribute US $560000 to help the dental coffee industry increase production.
IFC said the project aims to reverse the decline in dental coffee production, protect dental coffee brands and improve the livelihood of dental coffee farmers.
Jason Sharp, president of the Tooth Coffee Export Association, said the association hopes to obtain registration of 6000 to 7000 farmers, collect farmers' technology and productivity data, reduce crop theft and restart crop insurance programs.
In 2009, the export of dental coffee earned US $33.8 million, but it fell to US $13.4 million in 2014. at present, the price of coffee has steadily rebounded from 5000 yuan per box in 2014 to 11000 yuan per box. Insufficient coffee supply and strong demand in the Asian market have prompted curry farmers to return to the coffee industry, but most farmers have old planting experience.
