Every year, 5 million to 6 million tons of fresh coffee beans are produced, most of which take a long journey, starting from the plantations, being carried on animals, and then by land, water, rail, and until today's aviation system reaches all parts of the world.

As we have seen, until coffee beans are ready to be sold or exported, they are stored and transported in the form of "parchment coffee beans" (that is, endocarp) (although this increases weight and increases the cost of storage and transportation). And almost all new coffee beans are packed in bags of crude fibers made of jute and Bordeaux, each containing about 60 kilograms. In Hawaii, bags that can hold 45 kilograms are commonly used; in Colombia, 70 kilograms are more popular; and in Puerto Rico, 90 kilograms are sometimes used.
