There is no free "coffee" in the world. Waitrose Supermarket in the United Kingdom has changed its membership offer to cause controversy.
A few days ago, members of the British supermarket chain Waitrose received an email from the supermarket saying they had changed the offer for "free hot drinks". In the past, free coffee or tea for members must be consumed in the supermarket, and then get a paper cup at the cashier before drinking.
The email caused a lot of discontent, with some saying on social media that "this is the worst day", some joking that "this means the beginning of Brexit", and angrily accusing supermarkets of "believing anything" to customers.
However, some people understand that the move should ease the long queues at the free drinks counter.
The first sentence of the BBC report reads, "as the saying goes, 'there is no such thing as a free lunch', and now it seems that there is no free coffee either."
The supermarket said it was just an "improvement" on existing policy.
The new rules will come into effect on April 3, and 15 stores have tried out the new method since last year.
