Lucky for Ford Motor drivers who drink coffee, Starbucks, a well-known coffee shop chain, has partnered with Ford to order food in the car, making it easy for drivers to order coffee directly in the morning traffic.

According to GeekWire, Starbucks unveiled the service at its annual shareholders' meeting in Seattle, which is operated through Ford's SYNC 3 voice control system integrated with Amazon's (AMZN) voice control assistant Alexa, and installed on Ford's hybrid and electric vehicle departments.

The meeting was personally demonstrated by Gerri Martin-Flickinger, the chief technology officer of Starbucks. In the film, drivers can order food from Starbucks through Alexa as long as they tell Alexa what coffee they want to drink, and automatically search 10 nearby Starbucks to choose where to pick up their meals. Regular customers can even order regular coffee in advance.

Alexa, a voice-activated assistant launched by e-commerce giant Amazon, has been working with a variety of industries. Starbucks previously said in early 2017 that it would join Alexa's ordering service, which operates through Starbucks' original mobile ordering software Mobile Order & Pay, which can order food with software in advance to save queuing time. After Alexa joined, it is now possible to interact with Amazon Echo or other devices equipped with Alexa.

In fact, Ford partnered with Domino to launch a similar SYNC ordering service as early as 2014. Ford will also launch more services for the integration of Alexa and SYNC 3 in the second quarter of 2017, where drivers can ask questions, including voice-activated navigation and race scores, at the push of a button.

Martin-Flickinger, chief technology officer of Starbucks, said that with the help of voice control technology, it is not difficult to imagine the changes that this service will bring to the industry.
