"attention, everyone, fake eggs made in China have come to Singapore! When I eat fake eggs in the coffee shop in Hongmaoqiao, I must pay attention and remind the people you care about! " In recent days, a post about "Chinese fake eggs" has gone viral on Singapore social media. Perhaps the author of the post took the video as evidence, and the "advice" given by the personal statement alarmed many new countrymen. After the post was sent out on the 21st, it was forwarded by more than 5000 people in just three days, and more than 260000 people watched the video. But what is the truth?

According to the viral video on the Internet, there seems to be nothing different except half-cooked. But the poster Jerome thinks that the egg he ordered in a coffee shop has an unusually hard yolk, egg whites like water and tastes strange, like fake eggs. Then why insist that the so-called "fake eggs" come from China? Jerome did not say in the post, but mentioned a very far-fetched reason in response to netizens' comments: "the staff of the coffee shop are all Chinese."

The post went viral on Singapore's social networks, but this time many Singaporean media did not follow suit. Mothership, the country's online media, raised doubts on the 23rd: the post gave three main messages-the eggs were fake because the yolks were hard; the eggs were provided by a coffee shop in Hongmaoqiao; and the "fake eggs" came from China. Of these information, only the location of the coffee shop can be confirmed to be true. And if you look at the website of Singapore's Agriculture and Food Bureau, you can see that China is not among Singapore's fresh egg importers, which lists egg sources including Australia, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Sweden, Thailand and the United States.

Singapore's Agriculture and Food Bureau immediately launched an investigation after the video of "Chinese fake eggs" spread, Singapore's "Cyber Citizen" website said on the 24th. The results of a survey released by the Agriculture and Food Bureau on Facebook show that the so-called "fake eggs" are actually real eggs and are made in Malaysia. The Agriculture and Food Bureau also confirmed that Singapore did not import eggs from China.

How did Jerome, the poster, react after the official clarification?

On the 24th, Jerome immediately deleted the post on Facebook. He gave the reason for deleting the post: "We live in a society where most things are fake, from food and drink to fake nails and eyelashes." I'm just trying to put people on the alert. I don't want to be forced to reply to this post. I'm out. You can discuss it.

It seems that the poster is full of mistrust of the things around him. The publisher of this "fake egg" post is not alone in blaming China for feeling "insecure". Some time ago, there were rumors of "Chinese fake Laver" in Singapore, and the relevant "plot" was the same as this "fake egg incident". There was also a video spread on the social network, and there was no evidence to support that rumor.
