According to the latest report from the Nairobi Coffee Trading Center (NCE), since the recent reopening of the auction center, the auction price of coffee has risen 30% from May, reaching 20703 Kenyan shillings (US $199) per 50 kg of bagged coffee, mainly due to a decrease in traders' stocks and an increase in demand for coffee after a brief market break. NCE expects prices to remain high in the coming months. At present, only 15 per cent of coffee produced in Kenya is sold directly to overseas markets, while the rest is sold through auctions.
