Illi Coffee, the global leader in the high-quality coffee industry, has solemnly announced the finalists of the second Ernesto Illy International Coffee Award, which honors coffee growers who have made outstanding contributions to the sustainable development of the high-quality coffee industry. The original purpose of the award is to implement the important concept of working with coffee growers to promote the development of the coffee industry and to continuously find and supply the best quality coffee in the world.

The selected coffee growers were evaluated by the Italian Coffee quality Control Laboratory based on the harvest in 2016-2017. the finalists came from Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ethiopia, Guatemala, Honduras, India, Nicaragua and Rwanda. Each country can choose the three most representative coffee beans to participate in the final competition of the award, and the judges will choose one of the three coffees and decide on the last nine coffee beans that represent each country in the finals.

Subsequently, an international independent review team composed of experts will taste and evaluate each of the nine types of coffee, and select the final winner from the high-quality coffee harvested in 2016-2017.

Andrea Illy, chairman of Italian Coffee, said: "27 years ago, my father Ernesto Illy created the Best Coffee quality Award (Premio por la Qualidade do Caf è para Espresso) in Brazil to help Brazil become a producer of high-quality coffee. In 2016, we decided to extend our participation globally to the achievements of the award since its establishment, while recognizing and supporting both male and female growers who are committed to producing high-quality coffee in a sustainable manner. "

On October 16, 2017, an external jury of experts will announce the finalists and final winners of nine-country growers at United Nations headquarters in New York.
