What is ice drop coffee?

Ice drop coffee water-drip coffee, also known as Dutch coffee (Dutch coffee). It is said that during the Dutch rule over Indonesia, many varieties of coffee were grown by Robesta, and in order to drink these rather bitter beans in the tropics, they specially invented a device for brewing coffee with slowly dripping cold water.

The difference between chilled, cold bubble and ice droplets

\ make it by hot extraction /

Iced coffee ice coffee refers to a cold drink coffee that is quickly extracted with hot water and then added with ice or cooled rapidly. It takes about 2 to 3 minutes to make.

\ use cold extraction method to make /

Cold brewed coffee Cold Brew refers to coffee extracted by soaking coffee powder in cold water of less than 5 ℃ for a long time, which takes about 8-12 hours. Also known as iced coffee.

Ice drop coffee water-drip coffee refers to coffee that uses a drop of cold water at a uniform rate to extract flavor substances from coffee powder, which takes about 4 to 8 hours, depending on the size of the equipment.

It should be noted here that iced coffee lowers the temperature of hot coffee and is far inferior to cold bubbles and ice droplets in taste.

Cold brewed coffee and ice drop coffee are both coffee extracted with cold water. Compared with coffee extracted with hot water, they can retain the flavor and aroma of coffee to the greatest extent, while softening the acidity and bitterness, because the coffee brewed in cold water is not easy to oxidize. It can also inhibit the appearance of sour taste. The acidic fat in coffee is not easily dissolved in cold water. )

An interesting phenomenon is that you can hardly find this kind of coffee in the Netherlands. On the contrary, it has caused a wave of ice drops in Asia. In Japan, ice drop coffee has a history of hundreds of years, so ice drop coffee is also known as "Kyoto coffee" (Kyoto coffee) and "Japanese-style slow-drip" (Japanese slow drop). In South Korea, almost every cafe sells ice drop coffee, and many famous brands of ice drop appliances are from Japan and South Korea. In China, some boutique cafes are also starting to sell ice droplets. Next time you go to a cafe, remember to ask the barista.
