At the same time, the planting area of coffee in Yunnan has increased from more than 300,000 mu in 2008 to 1.8 million mu at present, and the output has increased from 26000 tons in 2008 to 150000 tons at present, making it one of the highest quality coffee producing areas in the world. During the coffee harvest season from 2017 to 2018, Yunnan coffee suffered another trough due to the low price of international coffee futures.

Li Xiaobo added that for a long time, many domestic coffee companies and merchants in China have sought to import foreign coffee at a price 1 to 2 times higher than that of Yunnan coffee. On the other hand, Yunnan coffee is often exported overseas at a low price, packaged and branded by foreign coffee companies and sold back to China.

Xiong Xiangren, chairman of Dehong Hougu Coffee, said that for coffee enterprises and cooperatives recommended by Yunnan Province Coffee Association, if there are quality problems, enterprises can claim compensation from the Coffee Association.
