Zhenan Minqiang Village, Yunan District, Yunfu City, Guangdong Province is an old revolutionary base village, and it is also a key support village for the second round of poverty alleviation and development. In order to help villagers get rid of poverty, Shanzitou Village introduced coffee trial cultivation as early as 2004 and successfully launched the expansion of coffee planting in 2013, and set up a "coffee planting professional cooperative" with the development model of company + farmers + cooperatives to provide farmers with one-stop services such as seedlings, technology, sales and so on.

In the first phase, 130 villagers joined the ranks of growing coffee beans. Among them, 53 households help the poor, planting nearly 300 mu of coffee. At present, it has entered the mature stage, and coffee has been produced. According to the identification of relevant technicians, the products from quality to color and taste have reached the standards of Katim varieties.

Growing coffee in Minqiang Village and even Yunfu is a new thing. I remember that at the beginning of the introduction, many villagers were skeptical, but after trial and success, the villagers saw a mountain of well-growing coffee fruits and gratifying market prospects, and the small "bitter" beans were able to make the villagers live a "sweet" life. the villagers were finally convinced.

At present, the market price of fresh coffee fruit is more than 10 yuan per kilogram, with about 230 plants per mu. During the high-yield period, one mu of land can produce 2 to 2.5 tons of fresh coffee fruit, and the output value per mu is more than 20,000 yuan, which is more than 10 times higher than that of other ordinary crops. The market prospect is very good.

It is understood that the purchase price of fresh coffee fruit has risen from 13 yuan per kilogram to about 25 yuan per kilogram in Yunnan Province, which has the largest coffee acreage and output. However, coffee bean cultivation in Guangdong is still a blank area. Minqiang Village will continue to vigorously develop coffee cultivation, strive to expand the planting area of coffee beans to about 3000 mu by 2018, and strive to build "Minqiang Coffee" into a famous brand in Guangdong.

Coffee grown in Guangdong, let's wait and see!

Katim = not good?

The Katim variety is at the forefront of the breed theory. The breed was originally developed by a Portuguese research institute and was thought to have overcome the problem of leaf rust. But with the mutation, even though the research institutions in Yunnan have studied Katim more deeply than Portugal, they are still plagued by leaf rust. Although there is no large-scale outbreak, even Katim, who has a strong disease resistance gene, will be infected. And it's not uncommon. Therefore, in Yunnan, where diseases and insect pests are rampant, it is difficult to plant weak ancient varieties. The question is, does Katim really have bad genes?

In order to test the authenticity of the variety theory, whether Katim means the devil's end rhyme, coffee farmers specially do a special treatment of a wave of eight-hour washing, as little as possible to guide the flavor in the post-processing and restore the taste of the beans. As a result, there was no so-called devil end rhyme or Katim's special taste in the evaluation of a lot of coffee colleagues.

Maybe the fault lies not in the variety, but in the planting and treatment.
