Nyeri Thiriku Estate PB PB Bean Flavor and Taste characteristics of Sherick Manor, Kenya?
Coffee beans are the fruits of coffee trees. Generally speaking, a single fruit contains two coffee beans (flat bean), which is called Type I (type 1). However, affected by the above factors, part of the fruit becomes a single bean when it is ripe. This oval single coffee bean is called peaberry, that is, Type II (type 2). Peaberry usually appears at the tip of a bunch of coffee fruits. Due to insufficient nutrient delivery, it produces poorly differentiated peaberry. There are only 5-color-7% round beans (Peaberry) on a coffee tree.
Thiriku Estate in Kenya, which is located in East Africa, is one of the major coffee producing countries. More than 6 million people in the country are engaged in the coffee industry, mostly in the form of a combination of small farmers and cooperatives. Coffee trees in Kenya are mostly planted at 1400 m-2000 m above sea level, and the growth areas include Ruiri, Thika, Kirinyaga and Mt. Kenya West, Nyeri, Kiambu and Muranga.
Nyeri, close to the high mountains of Mount Kenya, is also an important boutique coffee producing area, with an average elevation of more than 1500 meters. A lot of good coffee is also produced in this area. With fertile red soil, excellent ecological environment and good coffee processing technology, Nyeri has become an important coffee town in central Kenya.
Founded in 2000, Thiriku is made up of six different villages and currently has about 1900 members. Because of the very high altitude of Thiriku, the Thiriku cooperative is dominated by tea farmers and coffee farmers. The water washing station is set up at a location of nearly 1900 meters. Interestingly, the coffee washing station of the Thiriku Cooperative is set up in the tea garden. The higher and lower temperature positions allow the washed coffee beans to have a longer fermentation time and dry time, thus forming coffee beans with good flavor.
