The coffee content is "very small"
In two large supermarkets in Lijia Village, the reporter compared three brands of coffee. On the packaging, coffee beans are printed on the three bottles, some with "extra thick", some with "charcoal burning" and some with "Blue Mountain". At first glance, these coffee drinks are not only varied in taste, but also not cheap in craftsmanship or raw materials.
In terms of price, brand A, 268ml capacity, price is 6 yuan; brand B, 240ml, price is 5 yuan; brand C, 180ml is sold for 4 yuan. Compared with a cup of freshly ground coffee with nearly 40 yuan on the market, the coffee drink is indeed very affordable.
However, according to the results of a survey on the coffee beverage market, 41.94 percent of respondents said coffee drinks were "too expensive", 25.81 percent of consumers thought such drinks were "too many brands and difficult to choose", while as many as 54.84 percent of consumers said coffee drinks "taste impure".
Why does it taste impure? I'm afraid it has something to do with the ingredients of these coffee drinks. A brand of coffee beverage can shows: granulated sugar, edible hydrogenated vegetable oil, stabilizer, casein (including milk protein), emulsifier, edible flavor / seasoning agent, anti-caking agent, instant coffee and so on.
Judging from the order of ingredients in the list of ingredients, the content of coffee varies from brand to brand. Instant Coffee of Brand A ranks last in the composition table, Brand B ranks third and Brand C ranks sixth. In this way, in most coffee drinks, the content of coffee is "very small".
The national standard will be issued at the end of the year.
Industry insiders said that due to the lack of relevant "national standards" for coffee drinks, various brands of coffee drinks on the market are currently implementing enterprise standards. Therefore, the composition, ingredients and coffee content of coffee drinks are decided by the production enterprises.
This situation is expected to change by the end of this year. It is understood that the national standard GBT 30676-2014, drafted by the Technical working Committee of the China Beverage Industry Association, has been approved and released and will be formally implemented on December 1, 2014. As the first coffee beverage standard in China, the standard not only specifies the caffeine content, which is the characteristic index of coffee beverage, but also takes the coffee solid content as the technical index. The formulation of these two technical indicators can effectively ensure the authenticity of coffee drinks.
