Finca Auromar of Manor Oroma, Panama
It is hard to imagine the director of the stock exchange running the coffee garden. However, Roberto Brenes, the owner of Manor Oroma in Panama, is the CEO of the Panamanian Stock Exchange (Panama Stock Exchange, Inc.).
After graduating from high school, the young Brenes went to study in New York, studied at Columbia University for an MBA, and worked in a bank after graduation. During the dictatorship of President Noriega, Panama was rife with public grievances. The American-educated Roberto publicly criticized the current politics and was exiled by the Noriga government twice. While leaving Panama, he entered the investment banking industry in South America. It was not until the Noriga regime was overthrown and Panama was liberated from the dictatorship that Brenes returned home and entered the stock exchange service. In addition to his career, he also loves sports and still enthusiastically participates in the Triathlon competition at the age of 68. But compared with the stock exchange and the Ironman movement, it really made him famous in Panama, but his coffee farm.
In 2013, in the "Best Panama" competition, which attracted worldwide attention, it won the title of the most competitive Rose Summer Group, while the most famous Jade Manor only won the third place. The winner was Iron Man Rosa Coffee. From its name, it can be guessed that this bean is from the manor of Brenes. The international jury gave a score of 91.70 with a flavor evaluation: "Sweet, Peach, Citrus, Flower, Noble, Sweet Chocolate, Flower petal". In 2016, he won the championship of the exotic natural group again.
Oroma is located in the Piedra Candela/Volcan producing area in the northwest corner of the province of Chiriqu í in Panama, only two kilometers from the Costa Rica border. The manor has a total of 31 hectares, of which 16 hectares are rainforest reserves, with elevations ranging from 1700 to 1775 meters above sea level. The area specially used for coffee production is between 1485 and 1700 meters above sea level, accounting for 15 hectares. The average altitude of the planting area is 1625 meters, with an average annual temperature of 16 to 25 degrees and rainfall of 3500mm.
At present, the actual area of coffee grown on the manor is only about 15 hectares. Shade plants are avocado trees. Coffee grows in a semi-shaded environment and is very good. The beans grown on the estate include Rosa Coffee and Tekisic. After the cherries are picked, they are sent to Cafe de Eleta for processing, only 3 kilometers from the manor. Cafe de Eleta will first sift the cherries manually, mostly with water or half-water. After the raw bean treatment, there are modern cup testing laboratories to directly test the results of coffee treatment.
In Oloma, sun-treated Rosa coffee is a very small number of special batches, and the fruit comes from 4-or 5-year-old coffee trees with a thicker flavor.
