The British Air accident investigation Bureau reported that on a Condor Airlines flight from Frankfurt, Germany to Cancun, Mexico, on February 6 this year, the pilot accidentally spilled drinks and coffee on the control panel, causing the panel to smoke and the button to melt. The plane was temporarily transferred to Shannon Airport in Ireland, but fortunately no one on board was injured.

CNN reported that there were 11 crew members and 326 passengers on board that day. The 49-year-old pilot, who had more than 13,000 hours of flight experience, accidentally spilled the uncovered coffee he had received from the flight attendant.

The report pointed out that some of the coffee flowed to the audio control panel, which then heated and smoked and gave off a burning smell, forcing pilots to wear oxygen masks and causing "serious difficulties in communication between pilots and towers."

The audio panel was even so hot that one of the buttons began to melt, prompting the pilot to turn around.

The British Air accident investigation Bureau said no one was injured in the incident, and Condor Airlines also stipulated that all drinks provided to pilots must be covered after the incident. At the same time, the airline also issued a notice to the pilot to remind the pilots to be careful about the disposal of drinks during the flight.

A spokesman for Condor Airlines said in a statement to CNN, "on February 6, our flight DE2116 from Frankfurt to Cancun accidentally spilled coffee in the cockpit and caused a small amount of smoke, and the flight was diverted to Shannon Airport. Safety is our priority. We have investigated the whole incident and reviewed the rules and regulations of liquid in the cockpit again. At the same time, we also promote to the crew the use of appropriate containers for water or coffee. We are deeply sorry for the inconvenience caused to the passengers. "
